It was a glorious Autumn's Saturday and one that snow skiers will term as a "Blue Bird Day"! No point staying indoors, let's rug up and head for the mountains! In this case, the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
The Sunshine Coast is located north of Brisbane and our first destination was Maleny Dairy. I have read so many positive reviews of this place including its high quality and delicious dairy products! The drive took slightly over 1.5 hours and the views that greeted us as we headed up the mountain was simply, a feast for the eyes.
Maleny Dairy is smaller than expected and the café is literally a demountable attached to an undercover area (ideal for kids' parties as it comes with seating, sinks and even a BBQ!). The tours were very well subscribed when we were there and we did not join this time because we doubt our little monkeys would have the attention span (tours are 1.5 hours long).
The weather was perfect for playing on the grounds - they had blown up silicon cows and dragons (as featured in the photo above) and the kids enjoyed riding and dragging them around, kicking a ball, running and & down the slopes, eating their lunch packed from home, etc. It was a relaxing 2 hours in the great outdoors.
After that, we drove to Montville - for their splendid shops, lunch for us (the parents) and for the children to run around before our drive back to Brisbane. The kids were mostly wonderful with their walking. In fact, there was so much for them to see that they were happily walking without much fuss (thank goodness because we did not pack their strollers).
The drive back to Brisbane was most relaxing because the children napped! YAY! Serenity for the parents as we enjoyed the peace and quiet back home.
