Choo Choo! All Aboard!

It was certainly a weekend of many first experiences for our kids and this is one of them.

Their very first train ride. In fact, we went on two train rides. One operated by steam engine and the other diesel.

When we arrived, we purchased tickets from a booth and joined the queue with other families. The wait wasn't long as the trains could take up to 8 adults and 4 children.  The anticipation is all in the wait and the kids enjoyed watching all that was going on.

Set in a bush setting, the trains meander up and down through overhanging trees, shrubbery and dirt. Each "journey" is 5 minutes and very tame (therefore, suitable for young children) and the relaxation factor is very high.

These trains and its surroundings are operated by members of a society and the monies raised from ticket sales goes back into the maintenance and expansion of their facilities.

The Brisbane Bayside Steam Railway Society Inc. offers train rides to the public on the first and third Sunday of every month for a small fee and it sure did not disappoint.

There are also facilities to host children's birthday parties on the other platforms. Now, that's a clever idea!

Overall, it was an enjoyable experience for us and one that we will repeat in a few months time.
