Today, the twins are officially 3.5 years old and it's been 6 months since we all enjoyed a day nap.
We knew they were ready to transition because it was taking them longer to fall asleep and the nap was getting shorter.
We chose their 3rd birthdays to be THE DAY for huge changes as they are no longer "babies":
* No more dummies
* No more day nap at home
Yes, I do miss them not having their nap on some days and especially so when they are particularly boisterous.
No, I do not miss them not having one because it means we can be out all day without having to factor in their nap and the added bonus of them falling asleep quicker in the evenings!
I love watching my first (and last) children grow up and in particular, the exchange of varying opinions and stoic support.
There are days and moments of challenges. There are even more days and moments of wonderment and pride.
We stick to a pretty tight bedtime routine that sees them in their beds at 6:30pm. Sometimes, it takes them up to an hour to fall asleep (when they have a nap at kindy) and other times, 10 minutes. During that time, they will lie in bed, talk and sing to each other or on their own quietly, in their pitch dark bedroom until sleep envelopes them.
Our recent holidays have also demonstrated their adaptability to stay up later if the occasion calls for it, such as waiting around for a night flight.
I look forward to the next 6 months when the twins turn 4 years old! I wonder what adventures we will get up to!
