Every family is different and most decisions are made depending on what works best. As a family of two working parents with fast growing twin toddlers, we made the choice to implement a routine from the moment they were born.
Yes, you read it right.
From their first feed as infants, I made sure they were fed every 3 hours, then it was every 4 hours until we weaned them off overnight feeds at 10 weeks. Yes, they slept through the night from 11 weeks, yes, they continue to share the same room till today and yes, we are parents who practice the controlled crying technique.
We were in hospital with our children for 3 nights and the hospital we chose practices 'rooming in'. That means, the infants were in my room 24 hours a day. No doubt, it was a shock to the system however jumping into the deep end right from the get go, gave us a real dose of reality and made us all the more determine to have our twins - sleep, feed, napped and bathed at the same time.
They were born in April 2011 and to this day, they continue to sleep, feed, nap and bath at the same time each day. Yes, our lives revolves around a strict routine and we thrive on that because we know what's happening and when we organise a nanny to care for our twins, all she has to do is follow the same routine.
